US District Judge Richard metropolis approved Daimler AG’s settlement over claims that it violated federal anti-bribery laws.
According to the complaint, the wealth automobile and truck maker had presented money and gifts to foreign government officials to win contracts. To resolve charges by the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Daimler has agreed to pay $185 million. Under the agreement, Daimler’s German and Russian units will plead blameable to digit counts of violating US anti-bribery laws. Daimler also agreed to a two-year delayed prosecution agreement and for an independent monitor to administer compliance. This settlement is added example of the US government’s attempt to fissure downbound on violators of American anti-bribery laws. So far, this case is one of the most wide-ranging cases brought against a foreign corporation.
