Does the osx version of itunes support non-ipod mp3 players? (namely the creative nomad jukebox zen xtra) I had an ipod (3rd gen) but was unsatisfied with the sound quality.
Also, do you guys think the the 20" imac is worth the $200 or so jump in price from the 17" imac? I know the resolution isn't much higher, but how much better is the screen? I'm used to a 19" LCD right now.. Is the 20" lcd used in the g5 imacs the same one used in the 20" cinema displays? What about the 17" display, is the one used on the 17" powerbooks?

ok, i've waitd long enough.
is MWSF going to introduce any new products lik say a new iPod?
I've been holding off on the purchase until after the MWSF, so is it ok to order it now without having it be outdated in two days?

Try going into parallels settings and increasing the ram allocated to the virtual machine to at least 3gigs. That is what I had to do. Hope that helps. :)
Have it set for 4GB :( And it still doesn't explain why OSX would be so slow.
That said, today is the first time the machine actually felt faster than any other machine I have used. I had to do some video editing with iMovie, and the response was great. I am guessing it's something with Parallels itself, I'll have to try Fusion next, unless Virtual Box has been fixed to work in a 64bit environment.

Hi guys,
Pulling my hair out with this one as I'm one of those types that wants a fix and not a workaround.
A couple of days ago I put my Mac Pro to sleep before I got into bed as I usually do.
I was just drifting off to sleep and the thing decided to wake up on it's own. I put it back to sleep and I thought nothing of it until about 30 mins later it did it again.
Now I reset the PRAM, reset the SMC, trashed the powermanagement.plist and this didn't have an affect.
I then thought actually, why not do a fresh install of Snow Leopard as it's been running for sometime now and I had a lot of software installed I didn't use so I thought why not.
It's STILL doing the same thing.
Now the log says:
20/04/2011 15:40:21 kernel en0 Link down
20/04/2011 15:40:21 kernel en1 Link down

So I am presuming it's a bluetooth device, which is either my magic mouse or my apple wireless keyboard causing the issue.
Could it be a dodgy bluetooth card though?
It hasn't had this problem ever before so I was also thinking it's maybe due to the recent 10.6.7 update which I read caused some trouble with bluetooth devices on some other macs.
It's just really bizarre.
I can turn off the 'allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer' and see if that helps but I have NEVER had to change this default setting before which would suggest some other conflict, a faulty mouse or keyboard or a faulty bluetooth card.
I don't want to just fix the symptom if the underlying problem is faulty hardware as I would rather have the offending article swapped out whilst I still have applecare.
Has anyone else experienced this lately???
Really appreciate you reading this so thanks!
Ross :)

you need to restor with custom firmware, because of the 6.15.00 baseband.
then jailbreak and install ultrasnow.
hurry up because 4.3.3 was released and might not be jailbreakable.
if you have SHSH for 4.3.2. or anything earlier, you will be OK.
as you can tell, i am on iphone just for the second day!! so i don't know how to apply your solution.
1) restore with custom firmware? how do i do this?
thanks.

I just posted a bunch of my apple vinyl banners on ebay, but one in particular almost made me cry when I posted it. It is a 4ft x 4ft Thomas Edison vinyl banner. It used to hang over my head every day back in 1998 when I was selling macs at a compusa. I always felt like he was watching me and encouraging me to introduce people to Macs (mostly iMacs) for the first time. One day I was asked to take down Edison, Buzz, Ghandi and Hitchcock and put them in the trash compactor out back. Naturally, I said to hell with that idea and snuck them to my car. How could any Mac fan ever be expected to destroy anything so beautiful. Well, I got caught with them, but the manager let me keep Buzz and Edison and he took the other two. Now I put Edison on ebay and I'm already regretting it. Did I do the right thing?

more avalible upon request...
the processor is celeron.
the computer does come with a working battery that holds 46 min. of charge as well, as an extra battary cover, a phone cord, and ethernet cord, the power adapter, an external mouse., and if I can find it, a copy of windows ME will also be included. This computer has been very well taken care of by me, but I switched to mac, so I don't need this anymore :)

My guess is around $100, so it may be worth waiting for a little while. At this point, I personally won't be upgrading for a while, as I'm not a huge fan of what I have seen so far out of Lion.
That's what I thought, if waiting a week or two can save me a couple of bucks, then its worth the wait.

Im going to a party this weekend, and I will be bringing my cell (I usually dont because I get drunk)
I want to plan ahead incase this happens, what will happen if some idiot steals it?
Do I call Rogers up (my carrier) and tell them? Will they charge me something and give me a replacement phone?

The official TRIM support is already in Snow Leopard builds for the new Macbook Pros with SSDs and it's in Lion as well. The official support is only for the Apple's SSDs, no TRIM support for third party SSDs. There is a way to enable it for any SSD that supports TRIM, but it is a hack. Here's the thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1125400
Apple are usually conservative about their SSDs, they don't go for the top of the line SSDs. So, it is normal to see conservative speed from Apple's SSDs.

No, I guess not. I could probably do copy and paste. I was trying to use the screen shot feature instead to see how it works.
When you took the screenshot, the shot screen loads in a new Preview window. Press CMD+A, then CMD+C to copy it.
Or use the shortcuts listed here (http://guides.macrumors.com/Taking_Screenshots_in_Mac_OS_X).

About a week ago I got a new MBP 17". I wanted to upgrade the RAM, but let the sales guy talk me out of it. Well, my last day to return is this saturday. Would I be able to get the "upgrade" price if I took it in or would they try to make me pay full price?
I think I should be able to get the upgrade price as I could still return it and buy a new one with the memory I want.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks.
