Toyota Europe Spokesman

Toyota Europe SpokesmanBy the end of July, Toyota Motor Corp. says that it would already have fixed 90% of the cars included in the European recall. Starting last January, Toyota has recalled over 1.7 million cars in Europe due to the discovery of safety risks in the following models: Auris, Avensis, Aygo, Yaris and Prius.

To date, Toyota has checked more than 1 million vehicles in the Europe, standing for 66% of the total number of recalled vehicles. So far, this fix rate is regarded to be three or four times faster than its previous recall campaigns. According to a Toyota Europe spokesman, the company said that it won’t be realistic to expect that it will be able to fix 100% of the cars covered in the recall since there will be customers who won’t bring in their cars. He said that this is quite common during recall campaigns. In the UK, three letters were sent to each car owner but it is expected to only be 95% completed. A Toyota spokesman said that the recall campaign won’t ever close so anytime an affected car lands in a dealership, it will be checked and fixed at no charge.
