An Autoblog report states that Mercedes-Benz module go all-hybrid with its next-generation S-Class roster in the US with one exception, the enthusiast-oriented AMG models. A source near to the project said that the cruiser is slated to come in 2012.
The gas-only S-Class models module be the exclusive preserves of the company’s performance arm. Mercedes-Benz is not open to substance both lawful and hybrid variants of the aforementioned model in the US. Currently, Daimler only offers a single gasoline-electric var. of its W221 S-Class – the S400 hybrid, which is at the top of the range with a price tag of $87,950. It combines a 3.5-liter V6 with a mild hybrid assist system, resulting to an output of 295hp and 26 miles-per-gallon on the freeway. Mercedes-Benz boosted the cylinders and the noesis in all the models in the current S-Class lineup. This includes the 382-hp 5.5-liter V8 of the S550 and the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V12 of the S600.
